ionCube installation

Postby erwinvb » February 20th, 2012, 6:28 am

I have this shared hosting provider (non public), but without ionCube loaders running.

Based on the phpinfo, it's an Ubuntu server. So I downloaded the loader package from the ionCube website for Linux. I copied the contents to /www/ioncube/ and loaded the script via http://mydomain/ioncube/loader-wizard.php

Next I select shared hosting and provide the script with the name of the hosting provider and the url of the website (i tried with http:// and withoout).

All this results in is a blank page with the ionCube logo and "ionCube Loader Wizard" text. I left it open for more than an hour, but it stays the same.

I have no way to edit the php.ini and / or rebooting the server. Is installation of ionCube even possible this way? (I even tried the windows installer, but that only uploads the files. According to phpinfo, ionCube is still not loaded) I don't really understand what "loader-wizard.php" is trying to do, is it trying to edit php.ini, or load it in memory until the server is restarted or only to test runtime loading? (which is not integrated in p8pBB)

I want to fix this before I order (and pay for) p8pBB, which is as far as I can see exactly what I need.

Looks like the script is really using run-time loading but fails, so it is impossible to use IonCube.
You need to either ask hosting provider to install it or change the hosting.
Let he without sin throw the first stone.

Change of hosting provider is not an option. I'm making a website for a business department which (like all other business departments) is responsible for their own website. The website is accessible through a subdomain of the main site.

The whole site runs on one private server. I will send the server administrator(s) an e-mail to request ionCube support. This will probably a very long process.. :??:

Well I got an email from the hosting provider saying the module does not meet their security standards and will not be installed.

Also they pointed out the server had blocked 'some very insecure code' yesterday :^)
suhosin: ALERT - function within blacklist called: shell_exec() (attacker '[myipaddress]', file '/disk/site/[sitename]/www/ioncube/loader-wizard.php', line 863)

They clearly didn't really look into ionCube (and their business model) somewhat deeper, but it leaves me with a problem.
