No, this is not possible.

I know with the p8pbb3 bridge this, as Admin stated, is not possible. Since all the bridge does is link up the forum with your site (and displays the forum in an iframe-less wrap if you set it up that way)

I am not sure about CB, however I do know that if you use Joomla's Jomsocial, you can set up a notification module or icon bar. I have an Icon bar on our sites to show when users have new messages, requests, events and requests.

If you are using Community Builder, you may want to see if they have a module for this, and if so, you can set up a module on your Wrapped forum in any module position.

If you are using Jomsocial, I can point you to a few plugins and modules that you can use for message notification.

That is about all I can think of right now, but no way that I know of with any current CMS (including SocialEngine) that displays all messages in a separate module.

Messages from phpBB will have notifications in the CB login module, but you might already know this...
