User Import Synchronization

Postby cubefree » November 30th, 2011, 2:44 pm

Hello. Really enjoying the bridge component!

To provide a brief history on my project:

We converted WordPress to Joomla and kept the user ids the same (we did this so article ids had the same user id).

Then, we converted Simple Press to phpBB and kept the user ids as well, so they'd match with Joomla.

My thinking was this would assist in the synchronization... Now I am wondering what will happen IF I import phpBB users into Joomla or vice versa?

It seems I am duplicating the users.
Or if I do, then I would need reset user ids in my articles. Please advise?

Is there any documentation on importing?

I am using J1.7.2 and phpBB 3.0.9

Any user is not imported to either Joomla or phpBB if the target system already has same user with case-insensitive username or email, so no duplicate users are created.
The ID of new target user is different from original user ID, original user's ID is certainly preserved.
Let he without sin throw the first stone.
